SCHREIBER, Ont. – The Township of Schreiber has appointed Kevin Mullins as its new mayor, and is now calling for applications to fill the council seat Mullins will leave vacant.

Mullins, first elected in 2018, served as deputy mayor for the past two years. He previously worked for the Township, located roughly 200 kilometres east of Thunder Bay, for 39 years.

Former mayor Dave Hamilton died on Feb. 14 in a highway collision.

Hamilton had served as mayor of the community of 1,100 for the past two years, and as a councillor for six years before that.

Eligible residents have until March 17 to apply to be appointed to Mullins’ former council seat. More information is available at the township’s website.
