Search warrant uncovers crystal meth and stolen property

Two Couchiching First Nation residents are facing drug and theft charges following search of home by OPP.

FORT FRANCES, Ont. - A search of a Couchiching First Nation residence that uncovered drugs and stolen property has resulted in a man and a woman facing a numerous charges.

The Ontario Provincial Police issued a media release stating on June 15, members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, the North West Region Emergency Response Team, and Treaty Three Police Service executed a search warrant of a Couchiching First Nation residence.

During the search, a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine was found, along with stolen property.

A 34-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, both of Couchiching First Nation Territory, have been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

The man and woman will appear in a Fort Frances court on Aug. 29, 2017.
