Second-degree murder charge laid in Dryden death

Additional charges have been laid in connection with an incident in Dryden earlier this month.

DRYDEN, Ont. -- OPP has laid more charges in connection with an investigation of a Dryden incident that left one person dead and four others injured.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, Justin Desautels, 36, of Dryden has further been charged with second-degree murder and attempt to commit murder.

On March 2, OPP responded to a report of a suspicious person around 9:54 p.m. at Arbour Jade Trailer Park on McGogy Road in Dryden.

In the following hours, several calls were placed to the OPP resulting in police attending the trailer park to investigate the death of one person and the serious injury to four people.

Investigators believe these incidents to be related.

The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

The accused appeared in person in the Ontario Court of Justice Wednesday morning on the new charges and will appear again by video on March 16.
