The district’s health unit confirmed that another deer tick found in the Thunder Bay area has tested positive for Lyme disease.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit tested a tick that came from a person who is said to have picked up the bug within city limits. The first tick to test positive for Lyme disease was discovered on a dog earlier this year.

The Health Unit says about 479 ticks have been submitted for testing in 2010. Of those ticks brought in, 97 per cent have been identified as harmless wood ticks.
