Second suspect arrested in homicide investigation

THUNDER BAY - A second person has been arrested in connection to the death of 52-year-old Andrew Ayre.

Thunder Bay Police Service said in a release issued Wednesday afternoon that Jason Raven, 23, of Thunder Bay was arrested without incident just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Raven was identified as a suspect Wednesday morning and a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of second-degree murder.  

David Vernon Gregorovich, 32, of Thunder Bay, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder and robbery.

Paramedics responded to reports of a man in distress last Thursday at approximately 4 p.m. Ayre was found on the sidewalk on the corner of Victoria Avenue and North Street and he was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Gregorovich appeared in court on Tuesday and was remanded into custody. Raven is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
