THUNDER BAY – As students get used to heading back to the classroom on Wednesday, city workers are closing a section of James Street South to conduct sewer work.

A release issued by the city on Thursday says the busy street will be closed between Parkway Drive and Victoria Avenue and motorists are being asked to follow detour signage that will be put in place.

Motorists traveling south will take Parkway Drive to Edward Street to Victoria Avenue, while those traveling north can take Victoria Avenue to Edward Street to Churchill Drive.

Provisions for school-bus loading zones in the affected area will be made.

Drivers are asked to take an alternative route, if possible, use extra caution and obey all signage when traveling in the construction area.

The closure is expected to last about eight weeks.
