THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has announced seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19, all in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas.

All are attributed to close contact with an existing case, according to details released Saturday afternoon.

None are related to a COVID-19 case associated with St. James Public School reported Friday by the Lakehead District Public School Board.

It's the largest single-day jump in reported cases since April, when the health unit reported 10 new cases.

The episode date for the new cases - reflecting the earliest date of symptom onset, specimen collection, laboratory testing, or date reported to TBDHU - range from Oct. 31 to Nov. 7.

All individuals are self-isolating, the health unit said.

The news brings the total number of active cases in the Thunder Bay District to eight, and the total number of cumulative confirmed cases to 125.
