THUNDER BAY - A weather system moving into the region from the northwest has the potential to produce severe thunderstorms for the city of Thunder Bay later this afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the city of Thunder Bay and surrounding region. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to move from the northwest to the southeast late this afternoon and early evening.
The weather system could produce strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h as well as the possibility of large hail, heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning.
Large hail and strong wind gusts can damage property or cause injury.
