Severe thunderstorm watch issued

THUNDER BAY – A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for portions of Northwestern Ontario, including Thunder Bay.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch Tuesday afternoon, saying conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

Severe thunderstorms can produce up to ping-pong ball sized hail and damaging wind gusts up to 110 kilometres an hour.

People are advised to monitor conditions. Severe thunderstorms can produce torrential rainfall, damaging winds, and large hail can result in damage to property and serious injury.
