City of Thunder Bay release

THUNDER BAY – The City of Thunder Bay is working to create a concept plan that will help guide the future development of Northwood Playfield, including the possible installation of a splash pad.

As part of the City of Thunder Bay’s strategy to provide splash pads across the city, the Parks and Open Spaces Section is now in the planning stages to implement its next splash pad. It is recommended that the next splash pad be located at Northwood Playfield. The City would like determine if this is an appropriate location and obtain feedback from area residents and the general public.

The City is also looking for feedback on longer-term features and initiatives for the Northwood Playfield.

The Plan is being developed in-house and will help guide the City’s investment and incorporate neighbourhood residents’ ideas to ensure the redeveloped Northwood Playfield is suitable for its users.

Residents are encouraged to help shape the future of Northwood Playfield by attending the public open house on Wednesday, July 3, from 5 – 7 p.m. (presentation at 5:30 pm), at Kinsmen Youth Centre.

“We are looking forward to discussing ideas and obtaining feedback from the community regarding the future of Northwood Playfield,” said Werner Schwar, Supervisor – Parks & Open Space Planning.

Residents unable to attend the open house can answer an online survey available starting Thursday, July 4 until Wednesday, July 31, at: thunderbay.ca/getinvolved
