THUNDER BAY – A shed fire at a Harvard Street residence Thursday resulted in heavy damage, but no injuries were reported.

Thunder Bay firefighters responded to a structural fire in the rear yard of a residential property on Harvard Street Thursday around 5:15 p.m.

The first arriving pumper encountered a shed fully involved with a nearby fence also on fire.

According to a release issued Friday morning, an attack line was used to knock down the flames from the shed and fence.

Once the fire was under control the second alarm units were canceled.

Crews assisted with a water supply to the attack pumper, a second hose line to extinguish a wood pile that was exposed to fire and setting up a foam system to aid in extinguishing gas that pooled under the shed and wood pile.

The shed experienced heavy damage rendering it unusable.

No injuries were sustained as a result of the fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
