Shelter House backs out of bid to acquire former EMS building

Shelter House Thunder Bay has given up on its plans to acquire a neighbouring building in the South Core.

Shelter House Thunder Bay has given up on its plans to acquire a neighbouring building in the South Core.

Back In May, the Shelter House was asking Thunder Bay's Crime Prevention Council to support its bid for the former EMS Building on Donald Street.

Shelter House Executive Director Patty Hadju was looking at using it to provide more beds to both youth and homeless adults.

But Hadju says right now the board has decided to back away from the expansion, to solidify and maintain what they already have.

She says the cost to renovate the EMS building was far too extensive and costly.
