Shelter House campaign nearly $7,000 behind last year

THUNDER BAY -- Many of the city's Christmas charities are winding down for another year, but the need to provide for those less fortunate is still present.

THUNDER BAY -- Many of the city's Christmas charities are winding down for another year, but the need to provide for those less fortunate is still present.

The Shelter House relies heavily on fundraising efforts to be able to maintain the level of service they provide, feeding and accommodating those who may not be able to on their own.

Executive Director Patti Hajdu says this year's Christmas campaign total is about $7,000 behind last year's. And that's causing some concerns about falling short of their fundraising goal of $200,000.

Hajdu added that the shelter is grateful for all the efforts that have been made to assist thus far, and hopes that donations will continue to trickle in until the final tally is taken in January.
