It's the end of another shipping season for the Thunder Bay Port Authority.

The last ship to leave the port will be the Saginaw this Saturday night. The vessel was damaged Dec. 31 when its boom collapsed. Repairs are now just about complete and the ship will be heading to Sault Ste. Marie with 4,000 tonnes of coal.

Two of the three ships that will be staying for the winter at Keefer Terminal are already docked . The last is expected to arrive on Sunday. Three ships will also be docked at Lakehead Marine and Industrial for their five-year inspections and repairs.

The icebreaker Samuel Risley has also arrived in the port. It will clear some of the ice inside the breakwall before returning to the southern Great Lakes.
