OLIVER PAIPOONGE – A frightening injury to Thunder Bay North Stars newcomer Pier-Luc Bellard resulted the postponement of the remainder of Friday night’s Superior International Junior Hockey League game against the host Kam River Fighting Walleye.

The game was called with 9:02 remaining in the second period, the Fighting Walleye holding a 1-0 lead at the time.

Bellard was hip checked by a Kam River player, flipped over and crashed into the boards. He was later taken away by paramedics.

Bellard was only recently signed by the North Stars, the team announcing his arrival from the Campbellton Tigers of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League on Nov. 22.

The league announced on Twitter the game was not being resumed and the Fighting Walleye were working on a solution for fans.
