SIJHL roundup: North Stars win fourth straight to open Showcase

Dryden and Sioux Lookout also score wins in annual SIJHL tournament weekend.

SPOONER, Wisc. -- A three-goal third period sparked the Thunder Bay North Stars to a 4-3 victory on Friday to open their SIJHL Showcase weekend.

Matthew Halushak, Colby Feist and Dylan Winsor, with the winner with 90 seconds to go in regulation, powered the Stars (5-3-1) to a fourth straight Superior International Junior Hockey League win, after trailing the host Wisconsin Lumberjacks 3-1 after 20 minutes.

Hayden Cattani had Thunder Bay's other goal.

Zach Johnson, had a pair for Wisconsin, and Dillon Phillips had a single, his fourth of the year.

Conner Lemieux stopped 31 of 34 Wisconsin shots, while Kyler Lowden took the loss, good on 25 of 29.

Dryden 6, Kam River 3: James Hooton and Landen Stromme each scored twice to lead the Ice Dogs (6-3-0) to victory, handing the Fighting Walleye just their second regulation loss of the season. Mackenzie Sedgwick had a goal and a helper for the Fighting Walleye (8-2-1).

Sioux Lookout 4, Fort Frances 1: Connor Burke, Aiden Parker and Tegan Neuman scored first period tallies to power the expansion bombers to victory. Clark Scaddan had the lone goal for the Lakers (1-6-9)
