Silver City Theatre applies for liquor licence (2 photos)

Dozens of Ontario theatres are already licensed.

THUNDER BAY — How about having a cold one or a glass of chardonnay with that popcorn?

Movie theatre patrons in Thunder Bay may soon be able to enjoy an alcoholic beverage while catching a flick.

Cineplex Odeon has applied for a licence to dispense liquor within the Silver City theatre complex on May Street.

The application is currently under consideration by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, but the deadline for public comment on the Cineplex bid was Sunday, November 11.

Approximately 30 Ontario theatres were licensed to sell and serve alcohol on their premises as of January of this year.

A spokesperson for Cineplex Odeon was unavailable for comment Monday.
