THUNDER BAY – A section of the Harbour Expressway was closed on Sunday following a motor vehicle collision.
Thunder Bay police officers were called to the area of the Harbour Expressway and Golf Links Road intersection for a single-vehicle collision that happened after 11:15 a.m. on Sunday.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue firefighters and Superior North EMS paramedics also responded.
A male was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
The Harbour Expressway was closed for much of the day between Golf Links Road and Balmoral Street while the Traffic Unit was involved in the investigation.
Police announced that it had re-opened at around 8 p.m. They also confirmed the man was driving himself to hospital when he was involved in a serious collision.
The 31-year-old was facing a medical emergency, but policy haven't revealed any additional information. The man is currently in the intensive care unit. There's no word on his injuries.
