Sioux Lookout drug bust charges laid

A 25-year-old man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking early Saturday morning.

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) During the early morning hours of Saturday October 8, 2016, members of the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a local hotel as part of a drug related occurrence.

The search resulted in the discovery and seizure of a large amount of cocaine with an approximate street value of $8,000. Also seized was a quantity of cash and marijuana.

As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Anthony Beardy of Bearskin Lake, Ontario has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, contrary to the controlled drugs and substances act, and possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to the criminal code.

Anthony Beardy was remanded into custody on his charges and is scheduled to appear in Sioux Lookout bail court on Tuesday October 11, 2016.
