The province's Special Investigations Unit has concluded its investigation into an injury suffered by a prisoner in a cell at the Kenora OPP detachment.
The province's Special Investigations Unit has concluded its investigation into an injury suffered by a prisoner in a cell at the Kenora OPP detachment.

On March 31, officers were trying to place a 34-yearold man into a cell when his finger was caught between the bars and the cell door. That resulted in the severing of his fingertip.

The prisoner was immediately transported to hospital for treatment.

The SIU says their inquiries have shown the prisoner kept trying to push the door open as attempts were being made to lock him inside, and that the injury to the finger was inadvertent.

The investigation also concluded that the incident was accidental and there was no intention to hurt the prisoner.
