The province’s Special Investigations Unit announced Tuesday that it is probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was being held in custody in Red Lake.
The 41-year-old man from North Spirit Lake First Nations died Tuesday morning after he was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre from the Red Lake Hospital.
SIU officials say OPP officers from the Red Lake detachment Monday arrested the man.
Three SIU investigators and a forensic investigator are looking into the incident.
