SIU investigating following arrest in Sioux Lookout

SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. - The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating following the arrest of a man in Sioux Lookout.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police media release, officers with the Sioux Lookout detachment responded to a disturbance at a local business on Nov. 29 just after 7 p.m.

Officers arrested a 22-year-old man for public intoxication and he was transported to the local detachment and released unconditionally the next day.

The man returned to the detachment on Dec. 3 to report that he had sustained an injury while in police custody.

The SIU was notified and an investigation has been launched. The OPP are not able to release any other details of the incident as the investigation continues.

The SIU is called to investigate anytime an individual is injured during interactions with police.
