Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into an altercation involving the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP, which left a suspect needing hospital treatment.
Officers tried to pull a vehicle over Saturday night on Highway 61 near Boyscout Road, but the operator refused to comply.
The vehicle was located a short distance away, parked in a driveway.
When the driver was approached and told he was under arrest, he refused to exit the vehicle and a scuffle ensued.
A 43-year-old Neebing man has been taken into custody and faces several charges, including impaired driving, driving while disqualified and resisting arrest
The SIU investigates all instances where individuals are injured during interactions with police.
