Six new COVID-19 cases confirmed

District of Thunder Bay drops to 103 active COVID-19 cases, the fewest in nearly three weeks.

THUNDER BAY – Six new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the District of Thunder Bay.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Tuesday said three of the cases are associated with an outbreak at the Thunder Bay District Jail and another is related to an outbreak at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

An additional 11 cases are considered resolved overnight, leaving the district with 103 active cases and poised to dip below 100 for the first time since Jan. 20. The high was 186 on Jan. 29.

One of the cases has no known exposure category, while the other remaining case is considered to be pending.

There have been 109 cases at the district jail and 78 at the correctional centre.

The District of Thunder Bay has had 1,070 COVID-19 cases confirmed since the pandemic arrived in the region last March.
