Six new COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay area

Two of the cases involve people who travelled outside Northwestern Ontario.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports six new COVID-19 cases in its jurisdiction, all of them being in the City of Thunder Bay or surrounding townships.

Two of the cases are related to travel outside Northwestern Ontario, while the other four are close contact cases.

Seventeen cases have been resolved since Tuesday, bringing the number of active cases across the district down to 48, a dozen fewer than yesterday and the lowest number of cases since November 16.

Four patients are receiving treatment in hospital, the same number as on Tuesday.

So far during the pandemic, 22 people have died after contracting COVID-19, including 20 residents of the Southbridge Roseview long-term care home.

The 20th death at Roseview was reported by Southbridge Wednesday morning.
