Six new COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay district

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports six new COVID-19 cases in its coverage area.

The new cases reported Monday morning inlcude three in the City of Thunder Bay or surrounding townships, and three in First Nation communities.

Two of the infections resulted from close contact with a person with COVID-19, while the other four have no known exposure source.

Eight previously-identified cases were resolved over the weekend.

This brought the active case count down to 14 compared with 16 on Friday.

One district resident is being treated for COVID-19 in the intensive care unit of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

No other patients with the virus are currently hospitalized.

On Sunday evening, Lakehead Public Schools announced that there has been a COVID-19 case detected in an individual associated with Hammarskjold High School.

The TBDHU is conducting appropriate follow-up on this case.
