Six-time world champion to headline local sports summit

Six-time world champion Jeff Adams will headline this year's Thunder Bay Sports Summit on Saturday, May 4.

THUNDER BAY – Community sport leaders including board members, coaches, staff and volunteers are invited to participate in a full day of workshops and discussions at the second Thunder Bay Sports Summit.

This annual sport networking and professional development event will take place on Saturday, May 4, at the Italian Cultural Centre.

Jeff Adams will deliver the Summit’s keynote address. Adams is a five-time Paralympian and a six-time world champion in wheelchair sports. The summit will also include sessions on topics such as concussions, sport psychology, physical literacy, grant–writing and developing cultural awareness in sport.

"I'm honoured to be a part of the Thunder Bay Sports Summit,” said Adams. “Sport is an important part of Canadian culture, and the lessons it teaches help us live better lives as citizens and neighbours."

“Sport is powered by volunteers,” said Paul Burke, Summit Committee Chair. “We are excited to provide an amazing professional development opportunity for our sport community’s volunteer leaders at the second annual Thunder Bay Sports Summit.”

Summit sponsors include Impact Promotions, Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, the Italian Cultural Centre, Tourism Thunder Bay, Maverick Audio Visual, National Team Development Centre, Fort William Curling Club and the Valhalla Inn.
