Sixth suspect arrested in Field Street homicide case

THUNDER BAY -- Police have arrested a sixth person in connection with the city’s fifth homicide investigation of 2014.

THUNDER BAY -- Police have arrested a sixth person in connection with the city’s fifth homicide investigation of 2014.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials on Friday afternoon confirmed the sixth arrest in connection with the case that began with the discovery of burned remains in a wooded area near Field Street on July 18.

Police say Christopher David Meeseetawageesic, 25, of Thunder Bay, was arrested on Thursday, July 31.

This suspect was arrested at McVicar Creek near Court Street without incident. Police say the suspect is charged with second-degree murder and breach of probation.

Meeseetawageesic remains in custody and has a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 22.
