THUNDER BAY -- It's just five days away until 40th annual Sleeping Giant Loppet takes place on Saturday.

Officials say skiers shouldn't be discouraged by ugly snow conditions around town, noting trails at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park are in excellent shape with great snow coverage.

Online registration closes on Tuesday at midnight at www.sleepinggiantloppet.ca

Late registration is available at the kit pick-up at Kamview Nordic Centre on March 2 and March 3 between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., but later filers are warned to expect lineups.

Registration kits, including bibs, timing chips and race day information, must be picked up at Kamview Nordic Centre on Thursday March 2nd or Friday March 3rd between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

As an incentive, the canteen will be offering a classic chili dinner special to skiers so you can enjoy a hot meal and pick-up your kit at the same location.

Organizers will not transport registration kits to the Loppet site for Thunder Bay residents.

Out-of-town skiers who wish to pick up their kits at the event start must notify organizers by email before March 2 at:info@sleepingiantloppet.ca.
