Small fire breaks out at Thunder Bay District Jail

Jail staff extinguished the fire before Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews arrived on scene.

THUNDER BAY -- The cause of a small fire on Saturday evening at the Thunder Bay District Jail is undetermined at this time.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue said staff on site at the jail had extinguished the fire before they arrived on scene, at about 6:30 p.m. Light smoke was still present and firefighters helped clear the smoke from the building.

A total of three pumpers responded to the fire.

A release issued by the fire department did not indicate if there were any injuries as a result of the fire.
