VERMILION BAY, Ont. -- A spring snowstorm in northwestern Ontario resulted in the closure of the Trans-Canada Highway between Vermilion Bay and the Manitoba boundary.
Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora announced the closure of Highway 17 at mid-afternoon on Monday.
The announcement said the shutdown was "due to snowfall and collisions" on the road.
OPP said the duration of the closure was unknown.
Police advised motorists to review their travel plans if they planned on driving anywhere in that part of northwestern Ontario, and recommended people stay at home so that road-clearing crews could do their work.
