SnowDay sculpture competition seeks artist-led teams

THUNDER BAY – The annual SnowDay Snow Sculpture Competition will take place this year during SnowDay on the Waterfront activities on Family Day, Monday, Feb. 18.

Applications to take part in the Snow Sculpture competition are now being accepted. The deadline to submit an application has been extended until Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. Artist-led teams are invited to respond to the open Call to Artists to be considered.

“The waterfront is a hub for boater, pedestrian and cycling traffic,” said Ash Young, Cultural Development and Events Supervisor, “This year’s snow sculptures will the embrace the theme ‘Transportation’ and are a chance to explore modes of locomotion new, old and not yet invented.”

This competition is open to professional artists, professional artist-led teams, and organizations that live/work/operate/attend school in the Northwestern Ontario region. It is also open to professional artists and professional artist-led teams that reside outside the District of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario region that wish to participate.

The deadline to apply is now Jan. 11.
