Last weekend’s snowfall has set winter parking restrictions into effect in Thunder Bay.

James Coady, parking authority manager for the city, on Monday said the accumulation of snow, combined with more in the forecast later in the week, is the reason the restrictions have been put in place.

Overnight parking, from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. is banned on emergency routes, in hospital and school zones, while calendar parking is in effect from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on most other city streets, meaning vehicles aren’t allowed to park on certain sides of the street, depending on the day, to allow for quick and easy snow removal.

Calendar parking remains in effect until March 31, unless waived by the parking authority.
