THUNDER BAY — If you've already switched your vehicle to summer tires, you may need to stay off the road on Wednesday and Thursday.

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for the City of Thunder Bay and other areas of Northwestern Ontario.

Residents of the city can expect accumulations ranging from 15 to 25 centimetres, starting early in the morning Wednesday and likely continuing into Thursday.

Forecasters say snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm are possible, leading to significantly reduced visibility at times.

Because temperatures will hover near zero degrees Celsius, rain may mix in with the snow on Wednesday afternoon.

Communities along the north shore of Lake Superior, the Lake Nipigon region, Atikokan and Upsala may receive 15 to 20 cm of snow.
