THUNDER BAY - People who rely on social assistance can still expect to find their cheques in the mail despite rotating strikes at Canada Post.
The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board said on Wednesday that it will maintain regular distribution of social assistance cheques and other mail during the 24-hour rotating work stoppages in cities across Canada.
Workers at Canada Post began rotating strikes on Monday in four cities, including Victoria, Edmonton, Halifax, and Windsor. On Tuesday, the rotating strikes focused on the Greater Toronto Area.
During the rotating strikes, mail and packages in the areas affected will not be delivered, however, mail delivery will continue normally in all other areas.
The TBDSSAB will be mailing November social assistance cheques on Oct. 29. Those who receive cheques in the mail are encouraged to sign up for direct deposit.
