South side crash leads to traffic woes

Traffic was jammed on the city’s south side after a transport truck and car collided Tuesday. The Thunder Bay Police Service report that the two vehicles collided at the corner of James Street South and Chippewa Road just before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The Thunder Bay Police Service report that the two vehicles collided at the corner of James Street South and Chippewa Road just before 8 a.m. Tuesday. 

One of the drivers, a 36-year-old woman, was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.   

The mishap closed the roadway for several hours, resulting in long traffic line-ups.  The roads were re-opened returned to normal shortly after 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, five people had to be taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash on the city’s north side Monday night.
 
That crash took place just before midnight on Red River Road at Junot Avenue.

Police say a 52-year-old city man has been charged with impaired driving.
