South side incident now deemed a murder

City sets record with 12th murder of 2022.

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Police have confirmed the city's record 12th homicide of 2022. 

In a release issued late Friday night, police say they are treating an incident in the 300 block of Arthur Street as a homicide  

An ensuing standoff, which has since concluded, led police to block off sections of May and Brodie streets on Friday afternoon  

The weapons call came in just before 4 p.m.  

Police have not provided further details on the nature of the homicide, any suspects or any arrests  

An updated is expected on Saturday. 

A police presence may still be observed in the area as police continue to hold scenes in the May and Brodie Streets area. 

Members of the Major Crime and Forensic Identification Units are now involved.

There we're 11 murders in Thunder Bay in 2014.
