THUNDER BAY – A major COVID-19 outbreak at Thunder Bay's Southbridge Roseview long-term care home shrank slightly over the weekend, as staff members recovered from their infections and resident infections slowed.
The total number of active cases associated with the outbreak stood at 67 as of Sunday, according to an update posted on the home's website - a reduction of 4 since Friday.
Over the weekend, the number of active cases among staff fell by five. However, the home announced one new resident case on Sunday.
Thunder Bay's medical officer of health, Dr. Janet DeMille, had stated earlier in the week that she did not expect to see more large jumps in cases, such as the 27 new cases announced on Nov. 29.
Paramedics with the Superior North EMS have worked with the health unit to repeatedly test residents and staff.
