THUNDER BAY - A southern Ontario man facing charges of obstructing a peace officer and being in possession of proceeds over $5,000 obtained by crime has been granted bail.
The court released Devonte Hyatt, 25, after his bail hearing on Thursday, April 9.
Hyatt is facing one count of being unlawfully in a dwelling, obstructing a peace officer and being in possession of proceeds over $5,000 obtained by crime. He appeared in Thunder Bay bail court via audio along with his counsel Robert Habjan.
A temporary publication ban prevents the publication of evidence presented at the bail hearing.
Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio granted the release of the southern Ontario man on a $1,000 bail. Some of his conditions require the man to live with his aunt in southern Ontario and stay out of Thunder Bay unless he is ordered to attend court.
His aunt who is acting as his surety will also have to pledge $2,500 without a deposit. Hyatt is also required to pledge $1,000. In the event of a breach, this money can be ordered by the court.
Hyatt will also have to abide by a curfew and have no contact with his three co-accused.
He is scheduled to appear back in court later in the spring.
