Special weather statement in effect for Thunder Bay

The first heat event of the season is expected Thursday.

THUNDER BAY – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the city.

The government agency issued the statement early Thursday morning and predicts the first heat event of the season is expected.

A hot air mass is expected to pay a brief visit to the Thunder Bay area Thursday, with afternoon temperatures near 30 C. Humidex values may reach the mid-30s.

Cooler air from Lake Superior is expected to return by Thursday evening, with temperatures remaining somewhat lower Friday into the weekend.
