Stabbing-spree suspect in hospital, bail hearing set for Monday

The man accused of being involved in Saturday's stabbing spree was unable to appear in court Thursday morning. Eli John, 29, remains at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre due to injuries he sustained during the incident.

Eli John, 29, remains at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre due to injuries he sustained during the incident. The suspect was linked up to the court via audio Thursday. 

The incident at Andras Court on Cumberland Street saw four people assaulted and two of them stabbed. 

John's lawyer, George Joseph, requested an adjournment for his client in order to have private discussions with him. 

John is scheduled to have a bail hearing on Monday. 

There is no word on whether he will be released from hospital by that time.
