Stampeders, Wilcox show at Historical Park cancelled

Rock fans looking to rendezvous with The Stampeders and David Wilcox won’t get their chance Wednesday as the Fort William Historical Park had to cancel the Wednesday evening concert due to a power outage.

While weather was forcing the concert indoors, the Fort suffered a major power outage, cancelling the Great Rendezvous Days event altogether. Historical Park spokesman Marty Mascarin said it is unfortunate the park had to cancel the show but the power outage meant the technical aspects of the performance would have been difficult to manage.

"Weather conditions were a concern and we were looking to move the concert indoors to our visitors centre," Mascarin said. "We were almost all set to go with that but no sooner had we made that decision we suffered a major power outage here and it’s undetermined how that’s going to last."

Mascarin apologized to ticket holders for the inconvenience. Anyone holding a ticket for Wednesday night’s concert can use their tickets for the remaining concerts. Trooper is scheduled for Thursday, Bue Wolf Friday and Leahy Saturday. Mascarin said he has his fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate.

The Stampeders were willing to play the fort Thursday but due to flight issues, would have had to cancel a show in Lloydminster.
