THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay North Stars are opening their doors to all first responders, looking to fill Fort William Gardens for Game 3 of their SIJHL semifinal against the Kam River Fighting Walleye.

Police, fire and emergency medical service, uniform and civilian members are invited to join the crowd for the game, along with their family, free of charge.

“We’re honouring local first responders throughout the game and thanking them for the sacrifices made over the past couple of years,” said team marketing manager Mike Tallari.

The opening ceremonial face off will be dropped by Const. Jeff Elvish, a mental health and post traumatic stress disorder advocate and there will be prizes and giveaways for kids throughout the game at the PRO Kids interactive zone in the lobby.

“All you need to do is provide proof of employment at the entrance table (but not the box office), such as an ID card or badge, and you and your family get in free,” Tallari said.

The 50/50 proceeds from the game will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay, while the chuck-a-puck proceeds will be turned over to Kingsway Park Public School to help the Grade 8 class have a proper graduation ceremony.

Game time is 2 p.m. on Sunday.
