The area’s recent warm weather has led the Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue Service to issue a warning regarding ice conditions.
Fire and Rescue officials issued a news release Tuesday that states the rapid snowmelt may lead to a rise of water flowing on some rivers and streams.
Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue is warning people to stay off the ice. This includes ice on rivers, streams and lakes throughout the city.
Ice is also rapidly deteriorating in the Thunder Bay Harbour and on the Kam River and access to these areas is restricted.
Ice breaking operations will likely begin at the end of this month.
