THUNDER BAY -- A revised final offer has been put forward, following contract talks between three grain elevator companies, a mediator, and union reps with the United Steelworkers.

A ratification vote is to being held at the labour centre Tuesday afternoon, regarding this Mondya’s revised offer.

About 230 local grain handlers have been without a contract since January 31st, and they voted Friday to reject the previous offer from the Lakehead Terminal Elevators Association.

The workers have already given the union a strike mandate, and can walk out after giving 72 hours notice.

The companies are also in a lockout position.
