The search continues for a Thunder Bay man accused of an alleged sexual assault involving a child.
A Canada wide arrest warrant was issued last Friday for Arthur Joseph Lyons, 62, who was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and breach of probation stemming from an investigation that began on July 25.
Thunder Bay Police Service executive officer Chris Adams said investigators have been looking for anything that would suggest a possible location for Lyons.
"So far they haven't been able to pinpoint anything specific," he said Thursday. "There have been a few tips that have come in and they have been following up on that but nothing that really says where he is right at this moment."
Adams said it's a possibility Lyons is still in Thunder Bay. However, given the nationwide warrant, it's also plausible Lyons has fled the city.
The reason for the Canada wide warrant was because of the nature of the case.
"There is a safety issue," said Adams. "(Lyons) has a past criminal background. We currently are concerned about the victim that came forward as far as the possibility there could be other victims."
"They are proceeding with just the one incidence right now that dates back into late July but it was better to be safe than anything else at this point."
