PICKLE LAKE, Ont. – A weekend traffic stop near Pickle Lake has led to multiple charges for a Mishkeegogamang First Nation man.

Ontario Provincial Police officers with the Pickle Lake detachment made the stop on Highway 599 between the two communities, around 500 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.

Officers located the vehicle around 9:30 p.m. Friday after being alerted to a possible impaired driver in the area.

Following an investigation, a 41-year-old man stands charged of impaired driving over 80 milligrams, as well as operating a conveyance while prohibited under the criminal code.

The accused will appear in Mishkeegogamang provincial court in November.

In a statement, the OPP encouraged members of the public to report aggressive, careless, or suspected impaired driving by calling 1-888-310-1122, or 9-1-1 in emergencies.
