Police have charged a man with impaired driving after he allegedly threw snow shovels at a homeowner’s front door.
Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a complaint at a home on the corner of Court and River Streets Sunday afternoon.
A 34-year-old man explained to officers that an unknown intoxicated man entered his home through the front door. The intoxicated intruder was immediately told to leave.
When the intruder refused, the homeowner forcefully removed him.
While outside the suspect threw a snow shovel at the front door, breaking the glass on the door. He then threatened the homeowner.
The suspect left in his vehicle, but returned and threw a second shovel at the home.
The man left the area again in a vehicle, and was later apprehended by officers responding to another break and enter in progress at a North Court Street home.
Police say there were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.
A 35-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with:
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Uttering threats
- Mischief under $5,000
- Break and enter
He will make a court appearance on Monday.
Police are now reminding people of the importance of locking their homes while at home.
