THUNDER BAY -- Ten per cent of Ontario's 250,000 college students have chosen to withdraw from class after a five-week faculty strike.
The Ministry of Education on Tuesday released figures that show 25,700 students asked for their money back, a provision allowed for after teachers walked off the job.
Locally the number was actually higher, with 403 students pulling out of class. That's about 14 per cent of the student body at Confederation College.
College officials expect the withdrawals will cost the system million of dollars, though they may be offset by the money saved during the labour dispute.
