THUNDER BAY — Signals and communications workers employed by Canadian National Railway across Canada are going back to work after striking for over two weeks.
The railway and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers have agreed to binding arbitration to end the stalemate over a new collective agreement.
About seven Thunder Bay members, plus about two dozen others who work across Northwestern Ontario, are among the 750 employees affected by the dispute nationwide.
The strike began on June 18 with the union saying CN's offer of improved wages and benefits wasn't adequate.
The railway said it had met or exceeded all the union's demands, including a 10 per cent wage hike over three years.
Workers will be back on the job Wednesday morning.
